We would like to introduce our talented team to you over the coming months. This May, we interviewed David Paddon, one of our Procurement & OTR Specialists.
|
Q. Explain your role at ADG – what is it that you’re really good at?
A. My role at ADG Global Supply is multi-faceted, I'm not only an account manager for procurement clients, I am also involved in the OTR tyres side of the business. I service a range of clients across the globe, providing mining equipment from everyday consumables and capital equipment to large diameter earthmover tyres.
I am dedicated to building partnerships based on trust with new clients. My strong point is my ability to develop unique supply networks.
Q. How long have you been with ADG?
A. I’ve been with ADG for 7 months.
Q. How many years experience in the industry?
A. Over 15 years experience in the industry across several different roles.
Q. What is the most unusual item you have sourced for a client?
A. One of the more unusual requests was for an aluminium ‘dinghy’ (boat) for an in-land mine site in China.
Of course this was not outside my sourcing ability and the dinghy was on its way to our clients in record time..
Q. In your experience what is the number one thing that ADG can offer new suppliers / clients?
A. With suppliers I am able to offer them an alternative avenue for new sales with a reputable company. Potential clients are able to experience a more efficient and cost effective supply option with ADG.
Q. Anything to mention that is unique to you?
A. I’m very adaptable to ‘any’ cross intercontinental ‘communication or cultural’ sensitivities
Q. What’s the best news you’ve heard lately?
A. That the war in Sri Lanka is finally over – peace is paramount.
Case Study - 30% improvement in rig productivity
M-I SWACO are the world’s leading drilling fluids and we receive reports again and again that the products are resulting in reduced torque, increased metres per day and improvement in rig productivity. Many of the rigs using M-I SWACO are able to reach depths not achieved before, as is the situation in the following case study:Location: Northern Goldfields
Conditions: Fractured ground characterised by shear and suck zones
Mud Program: DRILPLEX HDDTM
Comparison: Two diamond core drilling rigs, one using drilling fluids by M-I SWACO, the other using a competing product. Both rigs started drilling simultaneously.
Result: The rig using the competitors product dropped out, having failed to reach the target whilst the rig using M-I SWACO fluids completed the hole to target depth.
Other highlights:
- The rig using drilling fluids by M-I SWACO was successful in reaching a depth not achieved before in the area
- Unforeseen ore body found
- Core loss was prevented
- Reduced cementation procedures
- Production rates increased by 30%
- Greater hole stability
- Improved fluid carrying and lubricating capability
